GFS and LOTS'A PIZZA:
Strengthening Synergy for Philippine Pizza Industry Leadership
It all started with a vision. Now on its 11th year, LOTS'A PIZZA has continued to soar high with more than 90 outlets, with current plans to expand nationwide. Who would have thought that that a husband and wife team, who both came from the corporate side of the planet as CPAs with not a single experience in the food business, would be one of the country's most celebrated food franchisers? And their pizza business can well rank on the 4th spot as the country's most patronized pizza chain?
"It was actually my husband [Eduardo Ngan Tian] who initiated the idea of going into food business," Ms. Tesss Ngan Tian recalls. "We first operated a canteen in Mendiola, selling lunch and snacks in front of San Beda."
Further thinking of growing the business however, the Ngan Tian couple thought of offering an item that is versatile, and can be likewise offered to the consumer market that Greenwich left when it was bought by Jollibee Foods Corporation.
And there came LOTS'A PIZZA.
With an initial investment on Php 250,000 that went mostly on equipment, the couple started with 10 outlets in 1996. Ms. Ngan Tian herself went to the U.S. for a series of trainings in pizza making. Although internationally learned, Ms. Ngan Tian has continuously developed pizza flavors that are uniquely Filipino.
Asked what the ingredients for the success of LOTS'A PIZZA are, Ms. Ngan Tian says a huge part could be attributed to their strong relationships with their stakeholders - costumers, franchisees, employees, and business partners.
"We have partnered with local and highly reputable companies. San Miguel Pure Foods is one. We are happy that Great Food Solutions has been very helpful in developing business solutions that suit our needs."

Truly, LOTS'A PIZZA has made its mark in the industry as proven by the several awards earned such as the Entrepreneur Magazine's Ten Best Entrepreneur in 2003 and the 2004 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in 2004.
